LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT -  Good friends, good fun, good food and lots of great reining horses!  That is what you missed if you did not attend our Snaffle Bit Futurity Show!  I would like to thank everyone for coming to our show.  I would like especially to thank Kim Rose for hosting a surprise birthday party for me on Friday night!  Thank you to those of you who sponsored the Lawson Bronze trophies for this show...Dave & Barb Wilkins, Bill & Gloria Bradley, Bob Rosenfeld & Clark/Wolfe Performance Horses.  The qualifying shows are now over with so be sure to check the NRHA website for those who qualify to show in the East Coast Affiliate Championship classes in Springfield, OH in September.  OVRHA is usually one of the affiliates to beat in this competition and we hope to be the winner at this years show as well.

JOHN W. CLARK OIL SNAFFLE BIT FUTURITY -  Congratulations to the winners of this years OVRHA Snaffle Bit Futurity!  There was a clean sweep of all three Open divisions of the Futurity by Clinton Anderson.  The Non Pro was won by Kelle Smith and there was a three way tie for first in the Intermediate Non Pro and Limited Non Pro with Dale Lopp, Bill Clutter and John Balko.

AUGUST SHOW - The August show was a wonderful show full of good horses and some great times with our reining friends.  The show began on Friday with the Novice, Non Pro, Open and Green classes and was followed that evening by a surprise Birthday cookout hosted by Kim Rose for our President Rick Clark.  Kim had OVRHA members Skip Ruhlen and Kelly Pinkston doing the cooking and, as usual, they did a wonderful job with hamburgers, hotdogs and all the "fixins" plus a birthday cake for Rick.  Larry Floyd had also fixed a batch of his famous chicken gumbo for everyone to try.  Kim also had a huge blow up slide for the kids (didn't I see Rick Clark on that too???) and corn hole for the kids and adults to play.  Saturday classes began with the Youth, Rookie and Green and then we had the John W. Clark Oil Snaffle Bit Futurity.  This was probably one of the deepest futurities we have ever had!  Following the Snaffle Bit Futurity was another cookout, this time hosted by Harold & Becky Jordan for daughter Lyndsey who was leaving for her first year of college in Auburn, AL.  Once again, Skip and Kelly did the cooking and this time we were treated to Deep Fried Cajun Turkeys.  Several members set up some hay bales with cow heads attached and a little "calf roping" competition took place.  Where else but at a reining show can you have this much fun?
