LETTER FROM THE
PRESIDENT - The Holidays are over and it is now
time to prepare for the 2009 show season. Thanks to the
generosity of our great membership and the hard work of Sue Flynn and
her group of fund raisers, the OVRHA ended the 2008 season with about
$21,000 in the regular account and $4500 in The Tradition account.
This is a wonderful example of all of our members pitching in,
sponsoring trophies, plaques and making cash donations to help keep our
shows running. Thank you everyone! Our club is also
fortunate to have several larger sponsors and I would like to take this
time to thank them, Leonard's Truck and Trailer, Sundowner Trailers,
Rick Clark and Kim Rose, Mark Schols, Bob Rosenfeld, Clark-Wolfe
Performance Horses, LLC, Bill and Gloria Bradley and some anonymous
donors as well. Congratulations to our members who finished as
NRHA World and Reserve World Champions and finished the year on the Top
Ten list!! And congratulations to all the OVRHA 2008 year end
Champions and Reserve Champions. Plans are underway for the OVRHA
2008 awards banquet and the details can be found in this newsletter.
Please come prepared to make nominations for the election of 2009
officers. Congratulations as well to the Green Reiner saddle
winner, Pam Haas, and the Rookie Saddle winner, Shannon Horn! I
would also like to thank Rick Clark for donating the saddles. And,
again, I would like to thank everyone for their support in 2008.
Without YOU our club could not be the awesome club that it is!!!

Banquet - The 2008 OVRHA awards banquet will be held on February 21, 2009 at the Bellefonte Country Club, Ashland, KY. The Bellefonte is only a few miles away from the Ashland Plaza Hotel, where we have held the banquet in the past. We would like to have an idea of how many people will be attending so please email or call Kim Switzer (switzers@setel.com (859) 588-4797) with the number that will be in your party. As usual, we plan on having a silent auction so please bring some items to donate for the auction. As you know, this is one of our biggest fundraisers for the year. We would also like to have a few items to live auction so if anyone has anything they would like to donate for that, please contact Joe Wolfe ljoewolfe@aol.com to let him know. Patrick Swartz and Hollywoody owned by Janet Wingate are World Champions in the Limited Open Division and Reserve World Champions in the Intermediate Open Division. Roy Flynn and Silver Benz are NRHA Reserve World Champion Primetime Non Pro, Nick Nelson and Ready Make Cowboy owned by Lagle and Savage LLC are Reserve World Champions Rookie Professional, Nick finished 7th in the Limited Open Division as well. Nadine Galbraith and Gundelion are Reserve World Champions in the Novice Non Pro Division; Carly Galbraith and Sweet Starbuck are World Champions in the Youth 13 & Under Division and Reserve World Champions on Talk About Poco; Melanie Galbraith and Smart Snap are World Champions in the Youth 14-18 Division.
