Attention: Rules for Green Rider:
  • Any non pro rider who has not won any NRHA money prior to the current year.
  • Exhibitors will do a full pattern with the exception of the lead change where a simple change is required.
  • Riders must ride with two hands

OVRHA MEMBERS ON NRHA TOP TEN LIST

We have several OVRHA members on the current NRHA Top Ten listing. The list includes shows up through May 4, 2003. In the Open division in 2nd place is Pepantari, owned by Trish Franks and ridden by Woody Taylor. In the Novice Open Division Don Boyd is 1st on Cathys Romeo, owned by Tori Thomas, Woody Taylor is 4th on Shining Marshall owned by Martin Franks. In the Novice Non Pro
division in 2nd place is Abby Boyd on Qts Crystal Bear. Lyndsey Jordan is currently in 2nd place in the Limited Non Pro divisionon SR Kokanee Gold and Gregory Knight is in 10th place on Nimble Lena. In the Youth 14-18 division is Gregory Knight in 3rd and Lyndsey Jordan is10th on Doctor Tarrific. Hampton Deck is 2nd on Chex N Sugar and 4th on Jodies Ezee Hour in the Youth 13 and Under Division.

OVRHA IS WELL REPRESENTED IN TEXAS, NORTH CAROLINA, OKLAHOMA AND GEORGIA!

At the NRBC Derby held in Katy, TX April 16-20, Cathy Clark placed 8th in the Limited Non Pro finals on her buckskin gelding Hollywood Knight Out. Cathy continued her winning ways at the Carolina Classic, Raleigh, NC April 24-27 where she won the Limited Non Pro Derby and was 2nd in the Non Pro Derby. In addition, Bill Bradley and Shipwreck Sailor were 3rd in the Non Pro finals, Kathy Lopp and Lucky Lil Lynx were 6th in the Non Pro and 5th in the Limited Non Pro finals and Bill Bradley on Rawhides Rosy was 10th in the Non Pro finals. Bill was also 2nd and 3rd in the Primetime Non Pro Derby with Shipwreck Sailor and Rawhides Rosy. Also showing in the finals of the Non Pro Derby were Rick Clark on Just Kiddin MTK and Joe Wolfe on A Smart Jac. In the Intermediate Open
Division of the Derby, Woody Taylor was 6th on Steiner, owned by Rick Rose.
The NRHA Derby, held in Oklahoma City, OK May 13-18 had Cathy Clark 16th in the Non Pro Finals, 9th in the Intermediate Non Pro Finals and 2nd in the Limited Non Pro Finals. Kathy Lopp on Lucky Lil Lynx was 7th in the Limited Non Pro Finals. Joe Wolfe on A Smart Jac placed 10th in the Primetime Non Pro Derby.  Also, Carlos Deleu showed Joe Wolfes "Oakies Check Mate" to a 14th place finish in the Intermediate Open Division of the Derby. At the Life of the South Derby held in Perry, GA May 30 – June 1, Martin Franks placed 8th on his new horse
Bronco Billy Cutter.

OVRHA members also fared well in the ancillary classes at the Carolina Classic. The first day, Woody Taylor was 2nd in the Novice Open on Shining Marshall, owned by Martin Franks. Don Boyd on Tori Thomas' Cathys Romeo was 5th. Michele Hardin showed Mister Dual Lynx to a 2nd place finish in the Rookie. I don't think she has stopped smiling yet. Lyndsey Jordan was 7th in the Limited Non Pro on SR Kokanee Gold. Woody Taylor was 2nd in the Saddlesmith Open on Pepantari owned by Trish Franks. In the second set of ancillary classes, Woody Taylor was 3rd in the Novice Open on Shining Marshall, Abby Boyd was 2nd in the Novice Non Pro with Qts Crystal Bear, Lyndsey Jordan was 7th in the Limited Non Pro and Gregory Knight was 8th in the Youth 14-18 on Nimble Lena and Lindsay Williams was 9th on El Dorado Whiz.
At the NRHA Derby, Lyndsey Jordan was 10th in the Limited Non Pro, in the Youth14 -18 Tyler Baumgardt was 5th on Little Roan Chick and Lindsay Williams was12th on El Dorado Whiz, and in the Youth 13 & Under Hampton Deck was 2nd on Chex N Sugar and 12th on Jodies Ezee Hour.
This past weekend in Perry, GA several of our members brought home some paychecks. Lindsay Williams won the Youth 14-18 both days on El Dorado Whiz, Woody Taylor was first on Friday and second on Sunday in the $1,000 Added Novice Open on Shining Marshall owned by Martin Franks and was 3rd in Sundays
class on Top This Rooster owned by Janet Lagle, Michele Hardin brought home another 2nd place in the Rookie and placed in that class the second day as well.  Rick Rose was 4th in the Non Pro on his new mare he just purchased from Bill Bradley.

At the Illinois Appaloosa Association show held May 24, Stephanie Godfrey showed her 4 year old mare Awesome Gossip for the first time to a first place finish under all four judges in the Reining class.
