LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT -
Hello to everyone! I hope all is well and you wintered well. We are looking forward to another exciting year for OVRHA. We had a wonderful banquet, and for those of you who attended thank you so much. The banquet had record attendance and thank you to all for your very generous donations. A big thank you to our early bird sponsors for this year. Our sponsors make it possible for us to have our shows. When you see one of our sponsors, be sure to thank them for the support of our club.
Our very first show of the year is fast approaching. It will be the 2nd Annual Jividen Farm Equipment Spring Slide Derby held at the Henderson Arena on April 1, 2, 3, 2005.  This was a great event last year and will be even better this year. A big thank you to Kim Jividen Rose and Jividen's Farm Equipment for sponsoring this event.
All members need to be aware of the new rules for qualifying through your circuit shows for the NAAC.  This year the top 7 riders qualify for the Eastern Affiliate Championships in all classes.  OVRHA is once again hosting the Eastern Championships at Springfield, OH in September.  Set your goals early and I hope to see OVRHA well represented in Springfield, OH.  If you are a member of more than one affiliate you have to designate with NRHA which affiliate you will be riding for by July 1, 2005.  Hopefully you will designate OVRHA!
If any member has questions or has suggestions to make things better for OVRHA, feel free to contact me by phone, e-mail, or contact any officer of OVRHA. Your comments are welcomed. Good luck to everyone this year. Circle pretty, spin fast, stop hard, and most of all have fun!!

Rick Clark, President OVRHA

SPOTLIGHT

JIVIDENS FARM EQUIPMENT - KIM JIVIDEN-ROSE

SPONSOR OF THE JIVIDEN FARM EQUIPMENT SPRING SLIDE DERBY

Kim Jividen Rose is manager of Jividen's Farm Equipment, a Kubota dealer founded in 1972 by Kim's parents Wayne and Jane Jividen, on the family farm in Gallipolis, Ohio.  Jividen's Farm Equipment remains in the same location and in addition to tractors they sell any type of farm equipment you need.  Jividen's employs 5 full time and 5 part time employees and they serve the Tri-State area of Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.

The success of shows such as The Tradition Futurity and East Coast Affiliate Championship, The Firecracker Classic in Lexington, VA, and our Jackson shows is due in part to the ground groomed by tractors supplied by Jividen's Farm Equipment.  They also provide equipment for the Gallia County Fair each year.

During high school Kim worked for a local CPA which led to a job with her dad doing the books for Jividen's Farm Equipment.  Her business skills combined with her farm experience made her a natural to assume the position of manager of Jividen's Farm Equipment almost 20 years ago. When Kim's father retired 9 years ago, she took over the business.  Kim is the mother of three, Dustin, 22, works for her, Megan, 19, lives in Florida and works for a bank while completing her Cosmetology Degree, and Alex, 4.  Kim began riding when Dustin, then 9 years old, won a horse in an essay contest which led to the purchase of horses for herself and daughter Megan so they all three could ride together.  Kim did some team penning and working cow horse until about 4 years ago when she started riding reining horses.  Kim has been showing in reining for the past two years, her first reiner being My Grandpa Dunit.  "Grandpa", then owned and ridden by Mandy McCutcheon, was the winner of the Non Pro Futurity at the Quarter Horse Congress.  Kim owns Luther Brownburn, a six year old son of Docs Little Calboy.  "Luther" was the winner of the OVRHA Novice Horse Open year end award in 2004.  Her current horse is a 5 year old stallion by Heza German Melody called Heza Peppy Melody.  Kim shows in the Rookie division and most recently won the Rookie class at the Buckeye Cabin Fever Classic and was 2nd in the unapproved $1,000 added Rookie class as well.

Thank you Kim and Jividen's Farm Equipment for all their support and for sponsoring The Jividen's Farm Equipment Spring Slide Derby!
