OVRHA SHOW SPONSORS

Thanks to some hard work from Kim Rose, Joe Wolfe, Roger Bias, and Vic Mays, OVRHA has received quite a number of sponsors for trophies, plaques and money to help fund our shows this year.  In addition, banners have been sold to be hung at either Henderson Arena or in Lexington, Virginia at The Tradition show. The money from the sale of the banners also goes to help defray the cost of our shows.
A special thank you goes out to all who have sponsored trophies, plaques, banners, and donated money to help with our shows for the 2003 season. The following is a list of those who have donated so far this year. Be sure to tell them thank you for their sponsorship when you see them!

If you would like to sponsor a trophy, donate money, buy a banner, or if you have anything you would like to donate as prizes for some of our larger shows. Contact:

                                OVRHA MEMBERS WIN AT GORDYVILLE

Several of our members made a super showing at the show held at Gordyville in Illinois March 13-16, 2003.

Cathy Clark and her buckskin gelding Hollywood Knight Out marked a 217 1/2 to win both the Intermediate Non Pro Breeders Cup and the Open to the World Intermediate Non Pro Derby, she was also second in both the Non Pro Breeders Cup and the Open to the World Non Pro Derby. Along with winnings of over $6300 she won a Pards saddle, a Lawson and Morrison bronzes, 2 Gordyville coolers, 2 Gordyville vests,2 pair of splint boots, 4 Gordyville hats, and a belt buckle!

Lyndsey Jordan and her palomino gelding SR Kokanee Gold won both Limited Non Pro classes with a score of 143 both days. In addition to the class wins she won the "Ed Fear Memorial" which was given to the high point Limited Non Pro rider at the show. A special plaque will have her name engraved on it and each riders name who wins it in years to come will be added to it and will remain on display at the show grounds. She also won a beautiful belt buckle donated by Suzanne Wilson and her father with "Ed Fear Memorial" engraved on it. A special ceremony was held at the end of the class on Sunday to make the awards with members of Ed's family in attendance as well as sponsors of the belt buckle, Suzanne Wilson and her father. It was a very special and touching moment for all of us who knew Ed. He is and will be greatly missed.

Another OVRHA member winning at Gordyville was
Woody Taylor riding Trish Franks 6 year old stallion "Pepantari". Woody was 3rd in the Open on Saturday and won the class and the Morrison bronze on Sunday.

MINUTES

OVRHA Minutes, March 1, 2003

PRESIDENTS REPORT:

The March meeting of the OVRHA was called to order by President Rick Clark. Rick opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and stating what a nice year-end banquet we had in February. He expressed his appreciation for everyone's generosity in helping raise approximately $6200 from the auction. Rick then spoke briefly about the NRHA Convention and what an extremely nice event
it was and that it would probably become an annual event. Secretary Kim Rose then read the minutes with Bill Bradley making a motion to amend the minutes leaving the Snaffle Bit class only in August show schedule and Rick Rose seconded the Motion. Rick Rose then made a motion to accept the minutes and Joe Wolfe seconded the motion.

TREASURERS REPORT:

Treasurer Diana Bradley then gave the Treasurers Report as follows: Beginning balance $9,364.58, income $7823.71, leaving the current balance of $17,188.29. Rick Ramsey made a motion to accept the report and Dan Clarke seconded the motion.

FUND RAISING:

Joe Wolfe then gave an update on the fund raising drive stating that $30,170.00 had now been pledged and $12,070.00 had been collected so far. Joe emphasized that we need to focus on banners for The Tradition.

OLD BUSINESS:

Rick Ramsey gave a report on what is now taking place with The Tradition. Three judges have been hired and they are as follows: Ollie Griffith, Jodi Brainard, Todd Summers. We will still acquire one more judge for bits. Cathy Clark and Kathy Lopp will be in charge of the awards and trying to aquire as many donations as possible to help cover some of the expenses.
Dan Clarke then shared two quotes that he was working on for show managers but still needed to get more details and numbers together. Kim Rose is going to check on getting tractors donated for the drags. The club voted to put three adds in The Reiner, at least one of which will include entry forms.

NEW BUSINESS:

The OVRHA web site is complete, the final cost is a one time charge of $571.00 and an annual fee of $149.50. Bill Bradley made a motion to charge $10 for classified ads, stallion ads, and business card ads. We also voted for Kathy Taylor to be in charge of maintaining the site. Jack Martin made a motion to allow Kathy to price for linking to our page and Rick Ramsey seconded the motion.

Bill Bradley made a motion to bid on the Eastern Affiliate show of which the deadline is in June and Rick Rose seconded the motion.

Rick Ramsey made a motion to move the Sunday Green class to Friday evening for the August show only and Dave Eaton seconded the motion. This will free up some time on Sunday so the show can be completed earlier.

Bill Bradley made a motion to send a $100 contribution to the "Country Kitchen" in memory of Pauline Ramsey, and Jack Martin seconded the motion.

Bill Bradley made a motion to purchase a saddle at cost from Chris Wiley to raffle off at $5 a ticket. The drawing and give away will be at the November 2003 show. The motion was seconded by Rick Rose.

Kim Rose had pictures that had been taken and donated by Simba Johnson of our year-end banquet and Simba will make enlargements for anyone who contacts her for a minimal charge. We also agreed to ask Simba to take win pictures at our August 2003 show.

Rick Clark asked that everyone pitch in and help with working the paid warm-ups and the gate during the shows, that will help ease the work load for a few people.

Joe Wolfe make a motion to adjourn the meeting and Rick Ramsey seconded the motion.

Respectfully submitted
Kim Rose,
Secretary
