OVRHA MEMBERS KEEPING THE ROADS HOT THIS SUMMER


CONGRATULATIONS to Heather Dudley on "Docs Tontri Bar" owned by Carol Dudley. She showed at the American Paint Horse Association World Show held in Forth Worth, TX, June 22 - July 5, 2003 where she won the Youth 14-18 with a scoreof 216.5!  Her mother also showed in the Amateur division and placed 7th.

OVRHA members continue with their winning ways at shows in Lexington, VA and at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus, OH.
At the Firecracker Classic held June 26-29, 2003 several members came home with trophies. In the Novice Open on Friday, Woody Taylor was the winner on Janet Lagles "Top This Rooster". Bernie Paetzel was 5th in the Novice Non Pro on his 3 year old "Alena Rooster". Roger Bias was 3rd in the Intermediate Non Pro on "Nimble Tivio" and Lyndsey Jordan was 2nd in the Intermediate Non Pro on "SR Kokanee Gold" and Lindsay Williams was 3rd on "El Dorado Whiz". In the Youth 14-18, Lindsay Williams on"El Dorado Whiz" and Lyndsey Jordan on "Doctor Tarrific" tied for 2nd, Greg Knight was 7th on "Nimble Lena". Woody Taylor won the Snaffle Bit Open on Rick Rose's "Footworkscashremedy". In the second set of classes, Lyndsey Jordan once again was 2nd on "SR Kokanee Gold". This enabled her to win the High Point Limited Non Pro award....a beautiful Gist belt buckle with red, white and blue stones in it. Rick Metzger was 5th in the Limited Non Pro on "Motown Cow". Hampton Deck and "Chex N Sugar" won the Youth 13 & Under and Lindsay Williams was 1st in the Youth 14-18, Lyndsey Jordan was 4th on "Doctor Tarrific" and Kyle Riley was 8th on "Im All Dun Up".

In the Firecracker Classic Derby, Joe Wolfe on "Oakies Checkmate" were 3rd in the Non Pro Division, 4th in the Intermediate Non Pro Division and 3rd in the Limited Non Pro Division. Cathy Clark on "Hollywood Knight Out" were 4th in the Non Pro Division, 5th in the Intermediate Non Pro Division and 4th in the Limited Non Pro Division.

At the Ohio State Fair show held in Columbus, OH, July 18-20,2003 more trophies were carried home by our members. Roger Bias and "Nimble Tivio" won the Non Pro and Intermediate Non Pro the first day and won the Intermediate Non Pro and were second in the Non Pro the second day. That's three bronzes! Joe Wolfe and "A Smart Jac" won their first bronze after a tie-breaking run off in the Novice Non Pro on Sunday! Joe was also 4th on Lucky Little Zip both days. Lyndsey Jordan and "SR Kokanee Gold" were 5th the first day in the Limited Non Pro and took home the Pewter the second day. Lyndsey was tied for 2nd the first day in the Youth14-18 on "Doctor Tarrific" with Lindsay Williams on "El Dorado Whiz". Lindsay Williams was first the second day. Kelle Smith won the Non Pro on Sunday on "Time to Shine Honey", Emmy Wolfe placed third in the Intermediate Non Pro on "Dun It For The Money". Sam Smith won the Three Year Old Snaffle Bit class on Cathy Clarks "Smart Lookin Whizard". Woody Taylor tied for second....with himself....in the Novice Open on "Shining Marshall" owned by Martin Franks and "Top This Rooster" owned by Janet Lagle.

EAST COAST AFFILIATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
AND THE TRADITION FUTURITY

Be sure to make your plans now to attend the East Coast Affiliate Championships held September 4-7, 2003 in Lexington, VA. As you may know this year the show is being hosted entirely by the OVRHA. Any volunteers are welcome and appreciated. Contact Rick Ramsey (606) 928-9001 for further information. The showbill is available in the August Reiner and also on the website. Also held at the same time is the Tradition Futurity. The entry fees have been restructured this year so be sure to check out the August issue of The Reiner for further details.
